We are fortunate to live in a beautiful area with great facilities for all ages. Together, we can ensure it stays that way and remains a safe and relaxed area for us all. Take the time and make the effort to report hoons, graffiti, dangerous activities, thefts, violence and any suspicious activities in your neighbourhood. In this way, your assistance will ensure the area that we live in and raise our families in, is one that we feel secure and connected to with our neighbours and friends.
National Neighbour Day is proudly sponsored by the Jacobs Ridge Neighbourhood Watch. We have already booked the use of the local High School carpark and covered walkway areas for next year – Sunday 31st March, 2013. Put this date in your diary 10am – 12.30pm and join in the fun.
You may have noticed the Neighbourhood Watch signs as you enter the entrances and park areas of the Jacobs Ridge Estate. Our registered members continue to grow. There are currently 1,628 homes in the Jacobs Ridge Estate. It is a large area and it is for this reason that the Estate is divided into 4 Zones with 5 Blocks in each Zone. Each Zone and every block has a coordinator. If you would like to learn more about Neighbourhood Watch and more about the area you live in, you are most welcome to come along and join us at our meetings. Our Police Liaison Officer keeps up advised of criminal activity in the area and the steps we can take to prevent theft and break-ins from happening to us. Our local Councillor, Donna Gates and local MP, Michael Crandon regularly attend our meetings and are very approachable and supportive of our local area. They keep us informed of building construction approvals like the Woolworths supermarket on Peachey Road and the Coles North Ormeau Town Centre on Eggersdorf Road. Meetings are held in the classroom near Sports Centre, Ormeau Woods State High School, entrance off Goldmine Road, Ormeau.
Have you purchased a Neighbourhood Watch Kit? We really would like to see the letterbox plaques evident in every street – it sends a strong message to a would-be thief. The cost of the Kit is $3.00 and there is a substantial amount of information included to assist you with protecting your home, your family and your valuables.
If you have a business in the Jacobs Ridge Estate or servicing the Estate; $25.00 is all it costs to advertise in our Newsletter that is hand-delivered to every mailbox in the Estate.
